Pap Smear
Pap smears are recommended for all women
over the age of 18, and all sexually active women regardless of their age
to screen for cervical cancer. Often times the laboratory that analyzes
the specimen will act negligently and fail to diagnose an abnormality that
exists. This negligence in the screening process can cause great harm and
even eventual death.
If you have been diagnosed with cervical cancer but
earlier pap smears showed no abnormalities, you could be the victim of
medical malpractice. While there certainly are explanations other than
medical negligence, contacting a medical malpractice lawyer will help
assure that you haven't overlooked an inexcusable neglect or abuse on the
part of the medical system
